Hanging by crane.
Hanging by crane has become a popular 21st Century method of execution in the Middle East (very popular in Iran). Comparatively speaking, hanging by crane is less expensive and publicly more gruesome than a scaffold and rope. Hanging by crane is particularly cruel due to the fact that the victim's neck is not broken leaving the individual conscious throughout the whole process. Death occurs by slow suffocation.
This below video shows two people (a man and a woman - unrelated) being hanged by a crane.
The woman was convicted of an "honor crime"- meaning she had fallen in love with another man who was not her "pre-arranged Muslim husband."
The man being hanged was simply "accused" homo-sexual activity. Typically homosexuals are tortured in prison first.
